50 years ago today (1/31/72), Al Green released the soul classic LP Let’s Stay Together. Featuring the renowned “wedding song” anthem title track, the rest of the album hits hard with tight grooves, while Reverend Green’s falsetto is one of legend. Thie combination of Green and producer Willie Mitchell would later up the ante with 1972’s other jewel I’m Still In Love With You, yet Let’s Stay Together remains essential listening.
