50 years ago today (1/24/72), Paul Simon released his second solo album and his first solo album following his musical split with Art Garfunkel. Sure enough, this self-titled album recognized Simon as a solo force working with a variety of world music styles that at the time, was foreign for most American folk artists. Aside from the singles “Mother and Child Reunion” and “Me and Julio Down By The Schoolyard,” the eleven total tracks are no filler- resulting in one of Simon’s strongest efforts.
