70 years ago today (7/17/48), Ron Asheton the founding member and guitarist of the legendary punk band The Stooges was born. Asheton (along with Iggy Pop, brother Scott, and Dave Alexander) formed The Stooges in ’67 and brought to the stage and studio some of the most primal guitar work of its day.
