75 Years Ago Today – The Late Butch Trucks Was Born

75 years ago today (5/11/47), Allman Brothers Band founding member and drummer, the late Butch Trucks was born. The uncle of Derek (and Duane)played through all incarnations and albums of the band including the late 70s and early 80s era that saw very few original members still left. Alongside drummer and percussionist Jai “Jaimoe” Johnny Johanson, they formed a two-drum assault that would propel the band’s legendary rhythmic section that would later include Marc Quiñones. Trucks died from a self-inflicted gunshot on 1/24/17. In memory of Butch, let’s watch the Allman Brothers Band’s full set from Woodstock ’94 during the summer they headlined the HORDE tour following their stellar album Back Where It All Begins.
