80 years ago today (9/9/41), Otis Redding, “The King of Soul” was born. Redding’s recordings were produced by Stax Records and helped define Stax sound before his tragic death at 26. Redding wrote and recorded his iconic “(Sittin’ on) The Dock of the Bay” with Steve Cropper and contributed countless other classics to the rock and soul source book.
