Six Years Ago Today- Levon Helm Dies at 71 (Watch “Up On Cripple Creek” Live ’89)

Six ago today (4/19/12), Levon Helm died at age 71 from cancer. Helm best known as the drummer and one of four lead singers of The Band, rejuvenated his career in his later years with his upstate New York barn shows called “Rambles.” The band that Levon put together for the Rambles produced three albums: Dirt Farmer, Electric Dirt, and Ramble at the Ryman. Lets watch this take of Helm performing “Up On Cripple Creek” with perhaps the best edition of the Ringo Starr All Starr Band featuring Clarence Clemons, Rick Danko, Dr. John, Jim Keltner, Nils Lofgren, Bill Preston and Joe Walsh live in 1989.
