Happy 29th birthday today to Kendrick Lamar who was born on 6/17/87. Originally from Compton, California. Lamar embarked on his musical career as a teenager under the moniker K-Dot and has since earned accolades for his crossover appeal with elements of funk and free jazz. 2015’s To Pimp a Butterfly even helped spur the creative juices for the late David Bowie on this swansong Blackstar lp.
