Happy 75th birthday to the songstress who paved the way for many a rough-edged indie female artist – Marianne Faithfull (born 12/29/46). While in a relationship with Mick Jagger, Faithfull famously co-wrote the Rolling Stones’ “Sister Morphine” but also penned her own discography that contained many a memorable tune. Like Leonard Cohen, Faithfull’s voice has changed dramatically over the course of her career from high register to raspy, with an elegant touch. Listen to Faithfull perform her biggest hit “As Tears Go By”..
