Happy 76th birthday today to the pioneer of heavy metal bass playing – Geezer Butler, who was born on 7/17//49. The Black Sabbath founding member’s contributions to rock and metal are endless. It must be noted that Butler wrote the majority of Black Sabbath’s lyrics during the Ozzy Osbourne era, helping to contribute to the band’s black and gloomy imagery. Butler has also recorded and performed with Heaven & Hell, GZR, and Ozzy Osbourne. He currently serves as the bassist of Deadland Ritual. In honor of Geezer, let’s watch Sabbath at their farewell show (Back To The Beginning) two weeks ago, with Geezer killing it on bass and the intro to “N.I.B.”
