Ten years ago today (1/20/15), Sleater-Kinney ended a decade-long recording hiatus with the release of No Cities to Love. Following 2005’s The Woods, No Cities features 10 tracks packed into just over 30 minutes. It explores themes of identity, resilience, and societal critique, focusing on tightly constructed songs and raw energy. This would be the last cohesive album featuring Corin Tucker, Carrie Brownstein, and Janet Weiss, as 2019’s writing and recording process of 2019’s The Center Won’t Hold would make Weiss decide to leave the band.
