Ten Years Ago Today – The Cars Releases Final Album ‘Move Like This’ (Watch Live Lollapalooza 2011)

Ten years ago today (5/10/11), The Cars released Move Like This, their eleventh and final studio album. The album was their first since 1987’s Door to Door, the only one without bassist and vocalist Benjamin Orr, who died of pancreatic cancer in 2000. Unlike most albums that followed a 24-year lapse, Move Like This was surprisingly strong and can be marked as one of rock’s finest comeback albums. While other bands (Fountains of Wayne) scored a hit or two on The Cars sound, it was time for the Boston band to reclaim their ground, and an eleven-city tour that followed, including a Lollapalooza slot, helped wave The Cars flag one last time before Ric Ocasek’s death in 2019.
