Three years ago today (1/28/16), two founding members of Jefferson Airplane, lead singer Signe Anderson and guitarist Paul Kantner, died on the same day, both at 74. Anderson left the group in 1966 after recording their first album – she was replaced by Grace Slick. Kanter, of course, was there as the rhythm guitarist and sometimes vocalist all the way through the band’s 70/ 80’s hit-making days with Jefferson Starship and later Starship. Check out Jefferson Airplane perform “It’s No Secret” at the Fillmore in San Francisco in October ’66 – one of Anderson’s last shows.
