Picture Show: Icons of Funk @ Highline Ballroom

How’s this for a band? Leo Nocentelli of The Meters on guitar, Galactic’s Stanton Moore on drums, Fred Wesley of the JB horns on trombone, bass legend Bill Dickens (Pat Metheny, Janet Jackson) and keyboardist Mark Rechler of Circus Mind. Dubbed “Icons of Funk,” those musical allstars performed together last night at the Highline Ballroom in New York City.

Looks like it was a fun show.
    Setlist or reviews?

I had the pleasure of seeing the trio of Leo, Stanton, and Bill at Preservation Hall last jazzfest in front of maybe no more than about 15 people. Wow was it amazing to see these talented musicians in such a small space in front of such a small crowd. This must have been fun. Bill Dickens is an unreal bass player.
