Rodrigo y Gabriela have canceled the rest of their U.S. dates for September so Gabriela can get some rest.
A statement from the duo explains the situation.
"Gabriela is suffering from exhaustion after a hectic summer/fall tour schedule and is left with no choice but to cancel the remaining shows in September. Advice from doctors is to take a few weeks off to relax so she can build up her strength.
"Gabriela’s high energy performances means that she has to be in top physical health to perform to the levels people expect and that she enjoys. Gabriela will be taking a month off to get back in shape for the October tour."
The affected gigs include two in California – Canes in San Diego (Septemer 12) and The Grove of Anaheim (September 13) – and two in Texas – Antones (September 15) and the Austin City Limits Festival (September 16).
The guitarist expressed her apologies to fans and promised she and Rodrigo will be back out as soon as possible.
"I am gutted that I have to take a break from touring. I was really looking forward to these dates but if it means we can do what we’ve got planned for the rest of the year then I need to take the time off. I want to apologize to our fans, and I hope that everyone understands. We will be back on the road next month."
