Dedicated to Valerie Bolden, the tune was inspired by an advocacy visit that Thao Nguyen made to a woman’s prison, where she met Bolden, who was serving a life sentence without parole. Thao & The Get Down Stay Down kick off their spring tour tonight with a gig at The Blue Lamp in Sacramento. The tour also includes a slew of shows in Austin for this year’s SXSW Music Festival.
