The Police will headline the closing night of 2008’s Isle Of Wight festival, it has just been announced.
The festival will run from June 13-15 at Seaclose Park, Newport, and the trio will close out proceedings on June 15.
"It’s a coup to get The Police for the festival," said event promoter John Giddings. "We’re very happy to have the biggest tour of the last two years stopping by the Isle of Wight."
The Isle of Wight performance will be the only UK festival show for The Police in 2008. Sting and his boys are currently in the middle of a comeback world tour, having played to more than 1.5 million people.
The Isle Of Wight festival is now in its seventh year. Some 55,000 made their way to the island for 2007’s festival. The Rolling Stones headlined.
Tickets for the Isle Of Wight event go on general sale from 9am on December 10.
