Monterey’s First City Festival Announces Daily Lineups – Beck & The National Headliners

FIRST CITY FESTIVAL–the boutique music and arts festival featuring a thoughtfully curated, eclectic mix of artists performing on three intimate stages in a beautiful coastal setting–has announced the day-by-day line-ups for the two-day festival happening Saturday, August 23 and Sunday, August 24 at the Monterey County Fair and Event Center. BECK, THE NATIONAL, THE NAKED AND FAMOUS, PHANTOGRAM, BEST COAST, DAWES, CULTS, COCOROSIE, LAKE STREET DIVE and BLIND PILOT comprise a bill of more than 30 artists performing on the same grounds where the pioneering Monterey Pop Festival took place in 1967.

Tickets are on sale now at www.FirstCityFestival.com. Single-day GA tickets are $79.75 with no additional fees and unlimited carnival rides. Two-day GA tickets are $159.50 and VIP passes are $289.50 are also available with no service fees and a “layaway” option. Additionally, hotel and shuttle packages are available for purchase. The festival is all ages and will run from 12pm until 11pm each day.

FIRST CITY FESTIVAL boasts excellent sightlines across three stages, offering a unique experience for concert-goers. The full day-by-day music line-up for 2014 is as follows:

SUNDAY, AUGUST 24 Line-up

THE NATIONAL – THE NAKED AND FAMOUS – DAWES – CULTS – FUTURE ISLANDS — LAKE STREET DIVE – GEOGRAPHER – LIARS – DALE ERANHARDT JR. JR. — SAN FERMIN – THE MEN – LO FANG – CONNAN MOCKASIN – MIDI MATILDA  — SLEEPY SUN – QUILT – THE FMAILY CREST – COOL GHOULS.

Vaudeville stage performers this year on both days will include: PUDDLES PITY PARTY, JOHN BROTHERS PIANO COMPANY AND VAU DE VIRE SOCIETY DANCERS.

FIRST CITY FESTIVAL is named after Monterey’s claim as the official “first capital” of California, which eventually became one of the country’s most desirable vacation destinations. Musically, the city is well-known for the historic Monterey Pop Festival, as well as the annual Monterey Jazz Festival. In its debut year (2013), FIRST CITY FESTIVAL attracted more than 10,000 attendees each day that enjoyed a line-up of 30+ bands including Passion Pit, MGMT, Modest Mouse, Capital Cities, Father John Misty, Neko Case and many others
