THEESatisfaction, JD McPherson, Django Django, Low Cut Connie, Alabama Shakes (VIDEOS)

The Good Shit is a new Glide column which revisits and weeds out the televised and tubed trash of the prior week and highlights the good shit you might have already saw or could have missed.

THEESatisfaction proved that hip hip has can revamp itself in the form of quirky, weird, odd and adventurous in the same way that Alt-J and Mogwai bring new freak forms to rock. This live performance from the KEXP schedule was one of the more interesting performances on the air.

We got to hand it to David Letterman’s staffers for continually supporting good music, we know its not him seeking this cool shit out. JD McPherson has one of the standout albums of 2015 so far with Let The Good Times Roll and he brought that title track to Lettterman last week.

2015 will be the year that more people glue onto the innovative work of Reptar. The Athens, Georgia band band is slated to release Lurid Glow, their first LP since their 2012 debut Body Faucet, later this year. Their latest song “Cable” premiered and they elevate catchy beats and twisted vocals to a new level here.

When Django Django unveiled the first track “First Light” off their sophomore album Born Under Saturn due this year it showed the band is set to come into their own in the world of propulsive British psychedelia. The video for the track got unleashe and the clip, which was directed by Daniel Swan, is made up of a series of computerized shots overlooking a futuristic city where all the buildings are made completely of glass – trippy stuff indeed.

Last month, Ryley Walker announced his new record Primrose Green (out March 31st), and shared the excellent title track. Last week he shared another standout titled “Sweet Satisfaction,” which presents some of his most intricate and ecstatic fingerpicking along with a voice that is both pastoral and fiery.

If this song from Low Cut Connie wont make your drop your beer- seriously nothing well. The video for the boogy laden “Shake It Little Tina” features the talents of Instagram dance king Adam Carpenter, who did over 200 dances across the USA over the last year to put this video together. Don’t forget their new album features Merrill Garbus of Tune-Yards, Dean Ween of Ween, Greg Cartwright (Reigning Sound, Oblivians)

Like Spoon there are certain bands that can do no wrong and Calexico falls into that category. from their forthcoming Edge of the Sun LP. They’ve presented the soaring, desert highway soundtrack, “Falling From The Sky”, which features Band of Horses’ Ben Bridwell on backing vocals. Like their early collaborations with Sam Beam this is another ideal match for Calexico.

Action Bronson announced that his new album Mr. Wonderful is out on March 24, and shared a brand new single. “Actin’ Crazy” which was produced by Drake’s go-to collaborator Noah “40” Shebib.

Alabama Shakes made their second return to SNL and performed “Gimme All Your Love” and “Don’t Wanna Fight” from album their second full length Sound & Color available April 21 in North America. Check em out while still can in theaters, the following songs really might propel them to the upper echelon of touring acts.
