We’re celebrating our six-month anniversary this week, even though I have no clue what the official launch date was. Whatever, I love cake. And party hats.
This mighta been the best week of the past six months. No “mighta” about it actually, this one tops ’em all. On the bookends, I caught 22 awesome bands down at Langerado last weekend and tied it off last night with the dream come true that was the Levon Helm Band. And in between I became semi-important for a nanosecond as an earwitness to a wild shootout with the NYPD.
Yeah, it’s been quite a 10-day stretch. Let’s take a look at a small sample of some other shit that happened ’round these parts this week:
- We spent a little too much time reveling in the greatness of Florida, ushering in the beginning of festival season down at Langerado: Photo Gallery One and Two, Notes on a Festival, Spotted in the Crowd, On the Scene, Pullin’ ‘Tubes and Jimmy Saves
- And the downloads are out — our growing list is now up to 30 sets, including a handful of the late-night shows
- Matisyahu, um, fainted at the Trey show at Revolution — not enough pork in the diet
- Speaking of Ernie, our friend DaveO sat in this week’s B List and listed the Top Ten Big Red Sit-ins (Whitehall Prison not on the list)
- And JJ Cale sat in with Clapton and Trucks out west and will be forced to pay some royalties to himself
- Danfun joined Hidden Track FC and brought us some kickass photos from the North American debut of The Good, The Bad & The Queen
- The Highline Ballroom plans to open with class…and sandals, and patchouli, and probably bunk molly
Dear Diary, I can’t wait to tell you all about the Levon Helm Band show last night. Oh, and did I tell you about Roger and Linda at Makeout Point?
