AfterNews: The Dead / Bonnaroo Additions

Barbara Walters and her cohorts at The View will welcome Bob Weir, Phil Lesh and Warren Haynes of The Dead to their ABC TV show on Monday morning to discuss the band’s upcoming tour. The Dead announced their appearance on The View, as well as the news that old friend Branford Marsalis will sit-in with the band on April 28 and 29 in East Rutherford, NJ, through their new text-messaging service available through Dead.net.

Speaking of The Dead, the band members have teamed up with our friends at Charityfolks.com to auction off some of the best seats in the house for every show of their Spring tour. The bidding starts at $250 for most shows and the winner of each auction will have to pick up the tickets in person on the day of the show in an effort to thwart scalpers. The proceeds will benefit a number of charities close to the band’s heart including The Rex Foundation, the Unbroken Chain Foundation and the Sea Shepard Conservation Society.

Finally, the latest round of Bonnaroo additions has just been announced with Public Enemy, Ani DiFranco and the Tony Rice Unit among the musicians added to the bill and Jimmy Fallon, Aziz Ansari and Rob Riggle leading the way at the air conditioned comedy venue, The Comedy Suite. Head to Bonnaroo.com for the full list of artist additions to Bonnaroo 2009.
