Date & Venue: 2009-12-17 The Solarium, Decatur GA
Taper & Show Download: Z-Man
For Last Week’s Sauce regular Z-Man, this benefit show was his 282nd show of the year. I’m just going to paste in what he had to say about this show.
Here is tonight’s Yonrico Scott & Friends Benefit show from Decatur, Georgia. I had this marked down as I liked the line-up and heard that Grant Green Jr. might be playing part of the show. Yonrico is an excellent drummer for the Derek Trucks Band and always surrounds himself with excellent musicians! The show was a benefit for the Ronald McDonald House. It was $20.00 for the show, and this included Beer, Wine, and munchies. I got there about 7:15 and set up 6′ from stage. Most of the folks there were out in the room with the bar, or sitting at tables in the back eating and drinking. I hung with Col. Bruce for about 10 minutes. I ran into Jeff and Johnny Mosier who came by to help set up the sound and PA. I again thanked Jeff for the awesome show last night with Joe Craven. I grabbed some eats and sat down up front and began to roll. Some nice tunes including some holiday theme for December. They closed with Ike’s Mexico City and it was great. We were informed there would be some guests the 2nd set, YES!
Sure enough, I watched as Grant came in, set up, and began tuning his hollow body electric. They opened with a long song. After a few, Grant sang one for us. Then it was time for the Mosier Brothers to join the party. They chose a Bill Monroe tune, I’m Blue, I’m Lonesome, followed by a Deep Elem Blues. The place was quite packed by know and I noticed T-Dawg was in the house! A few more tunes and the show was over.
Yonrico Scott Band next plays NYE at 5-Spot in Atlanta GA.
