When you’re the virtual band Gorillaz it’s a bit tougher to go out on the road for a full-on tour. The Damon Albarn-Jamie Hewlett brainchild, who will headline the final night of Coachella, have just announced a pair of guest-laden gigs in London at Roadhouse on April 29 and 30. The shows, which will be their first in London since 2001, will feature the likes of Mos Def, Mick Jones and Paul Simonon of The Clash, De La Soul and more and will feature of mix of material from their catalog along with animation and artwork from Hewlett. Tickets go on-sale this Friday at 9 AM (GMT).
If you can’t make it across the pond for these unique shows, than maybe you’ll be able to hit one of these recently announced tours…
- The Eagles & Dixie Chicks team up for a summer stadium tour
- Grammy winners Kings Of Leon to hit an amphitheater near you
- UK songstress Kate Nash crosses the pond for a short club run
- Nostalgia Alert: ’80s new wave act Psychedelic Furs head out
- Country singer Dierks Bentley lines up up a cross-country trek
- John Lydon’s other band – PiL – celebrate their 30th anniversary
Finally, we thought that Pavement has a lot of advance hype when they put tickets for their Central Park Summer Stage shows on sale a year before the actual gigs. Well, metal legends Metallica are looking to build up ahead of steam for when they head out in 2011. According to Classic Rock Magazine, the former Bonnaroo headliners will only play ten cities but it “will be a huge undertaking…Metallica’s equivalent of The Wall.”
