Grunge pioneers Pearl Jam performed at the Optimus Alive Festival in Portugal on Saturday which closed out the group’s European Tour. According to the NME, PJ lead singer Eddie Vedder told the crowd “Thank you for coming to our last show. Not our last ever, but our last in a long time.” Vedder didn’t expand on his statement, so “long time” is open to interpretation.

The Tour Dates page on band’s website currently reads, “There are currently no concerts scheduled. Check back soon for future tour announcements.” Vedder once made a similar statement before a crowd at a past tour closer only to have the group return 10 months later. We’ll keep you posted on any news from the Pearl Jam camp about future dates. [via NME, HT – The_Rick]

Some thoughts :
“Pearl Jam ended their European 2010 tour in Lisbon, Portugal last week. There are no scheduled concerts for 2010 or 2011. If you were the press, what would you do? That’s right … blast over the internet that Pearl Jam just played their last gig (complete with a picture of Ed with a concerned expression) and get fans panicked everywhere….”

I would venture to say there are no PJ dates and wont be cause Matt Cameron is contractually obligated to play with Soundgarden and I would also assume they are going to need rehearsal time too
