Zac Brown Band played a killer show on their Jekyll and Hyde Tour Sunday night at the Austin360 Amphitheater. As a Grammy award-winning band with four studio albums and ten singles that have reached #1 on the Billboard country charts, Zac Brown Band surprised the crowd by playing three covers within the first half of the show. The group quickly proved they could top the charts in any genre.

Amongst an older crowd of beer drinking, cowboy boot wearing country fanatics, the band hit the stage opening with “Sweet Annie,” a slow song off their 2012 record Uncaged. They continued with faster hits like “Knee Deep”, which got everyone dancing. Brown told the crowd, “we’ve got a few hours to get lost in here, Austin” and that’s just what the audience did. Each track had accompanying pictures and videos as the backdrop, allowing the songs’ stories to come alive.

Covers of “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen, “Let it Be” by The Beatles, and “Under the Bridge” by the Red Hot Chili Peppers showed off Brown’s inimitable vocals and his band’s ability to jam out to music across any style. Zac Brown Band mixes up their set list at every concert, leaving the crowd unsure what to expect next. After singing “Remedy,” a slower song Brown claimed to be the most important track that the group has ever written, he passionately spoke about Camp Southern Ground, a non-profit camp that he started for children with disorders.

Bringing the energy to an all-time high with crowd favorite “Chicken Fried” was a clear highlight of the show, with Brown concluding the hit with a rapid guitar solo. Brown later brought legendary electric guitar player and Austin royalty Eric Johnson to the stage for two songs, ending the first with an impressive guitar jam session.

After playing for nearly two hours, the band took a ten-minute intermission and came back more lively than ever with a track off their latest album titled “Loving You Easy.” The song was fast-paced and soulful, showcasing the impressive harmonization between vocalists. They continued with beachy summer hits like “Castaway.” The slower track “I’ll Be Your Man” was another highlight as Brown emotionally asked the fathers in the audience to sing the tune to their daughters.

Zac Brown Band managed to give the concert an intimate feel even among the many thousands of fans. Brown’s powerful vocals and his band’s unmatched talent led to an amazing show.
