Film Bits: ‘Atomic Blonde’ and ‘Baby Driver’ Unveil Intense New Trailers

Charlize Theron Kicks Every Ass in ‘Atomic Blonde’ Trailer

The new trailer for Atomic Blonde has been released, giving audiences a bigger glimpse into the new, ass-kicking world from John Wick co-director/writer David Leicht. Charlize Theron stars as a John Wick caliber superspy, sent on a mission to retrieve a list of double agents after another agent is murdered—standard superspy material. Here we see a hyper-stylized, ultra-violent, sexualized world of intrigue and mystery as Theron kicks, shoots, and connives her way deeper and deeper into enemy territory along with James MacAvoy. It’s about what you’d expect from the mind that helped bring John Wick to life, and this looks an awful lot like the female version of that movie, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. In fact, it looks pretty awesome. We’ll know for sure on July 28.

‘Baby Driver’ Amps Up Action in New Trailer

Edgar Wright’s SXSW hit Baby Driver has quickly become one of the most anticipated movies of the year (we certainly loved it). The first trailer sent shockwaves of excitement across social media, leading to Sony pushing up the release date for the film from August to June. A new international trailer shows us even more pedal mashing footage of Ansel Elgort as the film’s titular driver, promising a high octane assault on the senses from the mind that brought you Shaun of the Dead. It certainly gets the blood pumping, although “Radar Love” certainly doesn’t hurt. Hopefully this whets your appetite and keeps hungry for the June 28 release.

The book details the economic decline of an American region as Vance opens up about his family’s problems with education, employment, drugs, and poverty. The book was hailed as an accurate and honest portrayal about the problems affecting the communities of the Rust Belt and Appalachia, which has sense become known as Trump Country for its part in helping to elect our current president. No word yet on who will write the script or when production is expected to begin.
