Railroad Earth Brings Saturday Night Festivities to Atlanta’s Variety Playhouse (PHOTOS)

On Saturday night March 3rd, Railroad Earth wrapped up a terrific two night run at Atlanta’s own Variety Playhouse. Over the course of the two nights, the band played a mixture of classics, new songs, and even some select covers including “Fire on the Mountain,” “Sisters and Brothers,” and “Reuben’s Train.” Each night Roosevelt Collier and his band opened the festivities.

During the Saturday night performance Roosevelt, affectionately Rosie, was joined by Dave Yoke (guitar), Tim Carbone (fiddle), and Andy Goessling (sax). Powerful versions of “Hot Lanta,” “Third Stone from the Sun,” and “Amazing Grace” got things heated up for Railroad Earth’s performance which more than kept the momentum going. Standouts from the first set included versions of “Old Man and the Land,” Black Bear, and Long Way to Go (featuring Roosevelt Collier). The second set started with a jam that segued into the crowd favorite “Head.”  The show, lasting more than 2.5 hours, was a great way to cap off a fun-filled two nights in Atlanta.
