VIDEO PREMIERE: Jesse Kinch Delivers High-Octane Rock and Roll From the Rooftop With “Preaching Like The Pope”

Since he was 8 years old, singer-songwriter and guitarist Jesse Kinch has held down a regular presence within the NYC and Long Island club scene. Now at the age of 23 he has managed to garner a large and loyal following of fans, all of whom are hip to his dedication to bring rock n’ roll back to its glory days. Kinch draws his influences primarily from the great rock bands and guitarists of the 60’s, 70’s, as well as the Seattle  grunge scene of the 90’s. Together, he molds his influences into a sound that is entirely his own and also happens to make for an impressive live show. Most recently, Kinch was the winner of ABC’s Rising Star singing competition, where he introduced old school rock to a young audience with soulful covers of classics like “I Put A Spell On You” to the more contemporary “Seven Nation Army”.

On June 1st Kinch will release his debut full-length album, I’m Not Like Everybody Else via Curb Records. The album is the result of putting in years performing live and finds him continuing to infuse modern elements of rock into his songwriting and covers. Today Glide is premiering the new video for “Preaching Like The Pope”, a bluesy, high-octane rocker that finds Kinch and his band jamming out across New York. While the song carries a charged up 70’s heavy rock and roll sound, the video and catchiness of the song also bring to mind the alternative rock that blasted over the airwaves throughout the 90s. It’s easy to imagine Kinch and his band projecting their huge sound and rock and roll bravado to thousands of screaming fans in a packed arena, and indeed, in this video they treat NYC as if the whole city is their audience.

In his own words, Kinch has this to say about the song:

“‘Preaching Like The Pope’ is a full out rock number that details my experiences within the music industry’s major label system. Our visions never aligned with who I am as an artist. These lyrics tell my story for the first time. This album has been four years in the making, and I can’t wait for fans to hear it.”

  7. True genius and fortitude!! Love you and this song, Jesse! Been a fan since your first appearance on Rising Star, and felt you should have been promoted right to the top, even then! Being that my songwriter/guitarist/bassist husband has also struggled for the slightest recognition from the traditional music business, we had a feeling we knew your side of the story, but it’s an aWEsOMe way for you to get it out and feel better. The biz has polished your previously unexposed facets, as sand does to a pearl. We’ll keep watching and listening to you whenever, and however possible. Grand blessings to you in ALL ways!
