SONG PREMIERE: Vinegar Mother Hits Soulful Summit With “Nexus”

Vinegar Mother are carving their own niche. Up and down the east coast live circuit, the psychedelic soul-rock quintet has been catching fans from Brooklyn to Burlington, and everywhere in between. On June 8th, the band finally releases their debut full-length, PHASES. To tease the upcoming LP, Vinegar Mother released first single “Moon Tomb,” a salute to the front woman’s unique friendship with the moon, the object of sweet isolation.

Coming together in 2015, the lineup is comprised of Julia Zivic (vocals/lyrics), Itamar Gov-Ari (keyboard), Jason Zivic (drums), Mike Roninson (bass), with Chris Mazuera joining as lead guitarist late last year. PHASES is heavily influenced by the band’s melding of diverse genres while remaining authentic, fresh and original in the process. Vinegar Mother at its heart is a truly collaborative effort which they believe will strike a chord with fans and other musicians of all stripes.

While Vinegar Mother has compiled an impressive debut record, the quintet surely shines during live performances, cutting their teeth all over the Northeast. The band has frequented the Knitting Factory, Rockwood Music Hall, Brooklyn Bazaar and Pianos in NYC, BPS Lounge in Kingston, NY and the Radio Bean & Foam Brewers in Burlington, VT plus many more have afforded the band an opportunity to win over new audiences. Additionally, they have shared bills with National & Regional touring acts The Lonely Biscuits, Big Mean Sound Machine, Anna Wise, Smalltalker, West End Blend, Aubrey Haddard, Joanna Teters and Kat Wright to name a few.

Vinegar Mother is coming off a great Memorial Day weekend that saw them perform at the Greenwich Town Party where they played a set between the Preservation Jazz Hall Band and Tedeschi Trucks Band,  with the iconic Eric Clapton closing out the night.

Glide is proud to premiere “Nexus” off of PHASES (below)a sample dose of their haunting grooves and seductive soul. With their anything-goes delivery and explosive musicianship, Vinegar Mother looks to be a festival staple for years to come.

“‘Nexus’ is about a complex relationship between a child and parent, including the complications that come with holding close our independence, authority, respect and growth in such an intimate relationship,” says Julia Zivic. “But the chorus makes sure to address that sometimes we say things we don’t mean, but deep down we know in our souls that the love we have for each other is deep and unwavering. The repetition of ‘in my soul’ is to remind myself and the listener to look within to find the truth and love when you feel anger and resentment.”

PHASES is due out June 8th, 2018 on digital platforms and is the follow up to Vinegar Mother’s 2016 EP The Sunny Seat.
