2018 Emmys: Early Odds for Coveted Nominee Positions

The 2018-2019 award season is already kicking off.

It’s early yet, but the smell of gold trophies is in the air as Hollywood gears up for another round of accolades. The 2018 Emmy nominations are set to drop on July 12, and already the speculation has begun.

Can Donald Glover keep Atlanta on the map? Will Amazon make waves with The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel? Is there any stopping Game of Thrones?

Television’s biggest night might not be airing until September 17, but the impending nominations has the TV world abuzz with anticipation. Given the high expectations we have for our TV shows these days, there is certainly a huge variety of names from which to choose.

Glover, for instance, seems a shoe-in for a Best Actor nod with Atlanta his groundbreaking show pushed boundaries hard this year, and the buzz surrounding the series is at a fever pitch. It looks good, too, for Larry David, whose long-running show Curb Your Enthusiasm came back after a long absence but does his brand of comedy work well in the current climate?

Curb certainly isn’t the only HBO series with its eyes on TV’s highest honor, however. Westworld looks to topple the Thrones; Barry presents the best chance at overtaking Atlanta. And everyone is looking to thwart the plays from those upstarts in the streaming world.

In just a few short years, services like Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu have made serious waves in the television world, and shows like GLOW (Netflix), The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (Amazon), and The Handmaid’s Tale (Hulu) are already being talked about as contenders, even with nominations still a week and a half away.

So what are the chances that your favorite series will get the nod from the Emmy’s? Early odds for 2018 are showing some quality contenders for what takes home the gold this year. Even without nominations firmly in hand, we can make some pretty decent guesses about who is walking away the winner.

Of course, we won’t know for sure until the ceremony airs. SNL’s Colin Jost and Michael Che will host this year’s ceremony, which airs on Monday, September 17 on NBC. Find out if your favorite show has been tapped for potential glory when nominations are announced on July 12th.
