VIDEO PREMIERE: Light Years Return With Glorious Punk Anthem “Back Then”

In the years since Light Years formed in the year 2009 they have toured with many like minded acts that include Pentimento, Citizen, Turnover, Mixtapes, You Blew It! and Modern Baseball. In early 2014, the band played on The 2014 Acoustic Basement Tour, hosted by Warped Tour, went on a US tour with Neck Deep and Knuckle Puck, followed by the 2014 Warped Tour. The band released the Temporary EP through Animal Style in 2014 and then signed a worldwide deal with independent label, Rude Records in 2015 and finished recording their second full-length album with Will Yip, which was released in the Fall of 2015.

The Cleveland, Ohio band now returns with their new album Afterlife (due 11/30), which is where the four piece has been heading for the past eight years. The album will combine their addictive noisy melodic rock and uptempo anthems into their most realized effort yet.

“We spent more time on this record than anything we have done before and I think it shows,” remarks the band. “We tried new sounds and ideas that before we would have never thought to do, or been willing to try, which I think only comes from the maturity you get from being in a band for so many years. We hope people like this record as much as we do, but if they don’t, we really don’t care.”

Glide is proud to premiere the video for “Back Then” a spirited version of a populist minded pop punk anthem that is keen on a big chorus and chiming guitars that recalls both The Gaslight Anthem and Against Me!

“Back Then quickly became one of our favorites during the writing and recording process,” claims the band. “It has that classic simple rock and roll vibe mixed with some new school punk rock which made a very cool song. Lyrically it was written about our first tours and this weird gap of time between high school and college where none of us knew what the hell we were doing (still don’t actually) so we pretty much did whatever we wanted.
