Tame Impala, My Bloody Valentine, Mercury Rev, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard Lead Rock Oriented Desert Daze Festival (PREVIEW)

The 2018 Desert Daze Festival takes place October 12-14 at the lush Moreno Beach in  Lake Perris. CA- a different, yet fitting location for what is sure to be one of the year’s strongest and rock oriented fests. Tame Impala and My Bloody Valentine will be headlining with classic acts like Mercury Rev performing their seminal album Deserter’s Songs in its entirety. Fuzz monsters King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, POND, and GUM will also be making a psychedelic splash, making this a truly special event this year. The move to Lake Perris means a more pastoral setting, as breezy, iridescent sounds will mirror the landscape thanks to acts like Warpaint, Kevin Morby, and The Holydrug Couple. Recent additions include Sabbath influenced riffs from Australian sisters Stonefield, dreamy sun-kissed vibes from NorCal based rockers Sugar Candy Mountain, and must-sees like Slowdive and Wooden Shijps.

Having recently toured with heavy psych rockers Earthless that will also be playing the festival, Kikagaku Moyo will bring their sitar infused, smoke laden tunes that are sure to ease festival goers into a hazy, euphoric mood. Notable tracks include “Smoke & Mirrors” and “Streets of Calcutta”, combining world music influences with nature sounds and weighty riffs that swell and release in mesmerizing movements. One of the most eclectic years to date, Desert Daze will feature festival staples like Ty Segall and WAND while bringing to stage the electric and unruly brilliance of A Place to Bury Strangers.

Something for everyone, the psychedelic dinner plate is full of generous helpings of both the beloved and the new, sure to introduce you to bands that will go from novelties to favorites. Acts like Ulrika Spacek will provide reverb steeped melodies that mesh with pulsating 80’s beats in tracks like “Full of Men” and “Strawberry Glue” so you can dip into a trippy dream and escape your responsibilities for a weekend. Spanish queens Hinds will be playing songs off their recently released album, I Don’t Run bringing their signature power grunge ballads that are sure to move the bohemian crowds. Other can’t miss acts include True Widow, Bedouine, Imarhan, and Boogarins for a lineup that will melt both your mind and face off.
