Kurt Vile, Khruangbin, Calexico and Iron & Wine, Parquet Courts, Lead Inaugural THING Festival

In a cleverly curated festival idea- Music, film and tv meet up at the inaugural THING Festival that will take place at Fort Worden in Port Townshend, Washington August 24 – 25. Artist on the stacked lineup include: Kurt Vile & The Violators, Khruangbin, Calexico and Iron & Wine, Parquet Courts, Jeff Tweedy, Café Tacvba, , Tank and the Bangas, Phosphorescent, Makaya McCraven, Ryley Walker and more.

THING organizer Adam Zacks of Seattle Theatre Group (STG) founded and produced the Sasquatch! Music Festival over the course of its 17-year run.

In addition to music, THING will host comedians, podcasters, visual artists, dance troupes and local food vendors. The event will feature three primary stages including a decommissioned zeppelin hanger, an intimate art-deco theater and parade grounds over looking Puget Sound. Tickets go on sale this Friday, April 26 at 9 a.m. PT via Ticketmaster. Check out the full lineup below:

The non-music lineup will feature Macaulay Culkin’s Bunny Ears podcast, Natasha Lyonne (Russian Doll), Lindy West (Shrill), and comedian Todd Barry all set to appear. Napoleon Dynamite Live will feature the cult film’s stars Jon Heder, Efren Ramirez, and John Gries holding a discussion and screening the 2004 comedy, and a live-reading of An Officer and a Gentleman is also on the schedule. For the playfully artistic set, UK-based Architects of Air will present their acclaimed Luminarium, an immersive, inflatable installation and sensory experience.
