Ghost-Note Pay Tribute to Prince on Closing Night of Soul’d Out Music Festival (PHOTOS)

Back on April 21st, 2019, Portland, Oregon’s Soul’d Out Music Festival had the good fortune of hosting Prince for a pair of shows at the Roseland Theater. Just three years later, to the day, Prince passed away. This year on April 21st, Soul’d Out Music Festival and funk/soul juggernaut Ghost-Note played homage to The Purple One at Portland’s Star Theater.

Led by Snarky Puppy’s multi-Grammy-winning percussion duo of Robert “Sput” Searight and Nate Werth, Ghost-Note delivers hard-driving funk and soul with the assistance of a constantly rotating cast of musicians. MonoNeon, who was a member of Prince’s touring band, was playing bass and guitar. Also on stage were members of the New Power Generation Horns. Sarah Clarke, who sings in Portland-based band Dirty Revival came out for a couple of songs, and Grammy-nominated songwriter and producer B.Slade was on hand to sing a few songs, showing off his vocal chops, going especially big on the set-closing “Purple Rain.”
