ALBUM PREMIERE: Charlie Sub & Sound Dogs Fuse Bar Band Rock and Soul With Debut EP ‘The Bronx Is Burning’

Charlie Sub & Sound Dogs, an indie rock band, perform original music inspired by an iconic era in rock and roll history. They combine the singing and songwriting skills of Charlie Sub with the guitar mastery of Pat Branch, keyboard melodies of Rich Brotman, dynamic backing vocals of Genevieve Faivre, saxophone harmonics of Pete Esser, harmonic richness of guitarist David Newman, and tasteful drumming of Gandhi Gonzalez.

Charlie’s father, Paul Sub, owned and managed the legendary Coventry Club in Queens (NYC) famous in the 1970’s for showcasing soon-to-be legendary acts, including Kiss, The Ramones, The New York Dolls and countless other bands, all at the beginning of their careers. Currently, the Sub family owns Ethyl’s Alcohol & Food in the UES, a lounge, restaurant and performance space on 2nd Avenue.

Founded in 2014, Charlie Sub & Sound Dogs bring a fusion of rock, blues and ’70’s inspired nostalgia to life with regular shows of all-original music across NYC. Their debut EP The Bronx Is Burning is due out May 17th, and today Glide is excited to offer an exclusive early listen. Fans of classic rock will find plenty to dig with this release as the band melds the bar band rock and roll of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band with more elements of punk, soul, blues and Americana layered in throughout.

Vocalist Charlie Sub shares some insight on how the album came to be:

“Sometimes the songs just tell you when they need to be released! As with many things in life, it is just timing, whether it is physically making the time to record or just feeling comfortable enough with the band and the material to put it out there. Each one of these songs tells a story about my life in New York at different times. Growing up, breaking up, having my daughter, starting a career…it is a strange and warped chronology but very typical of a stressed out New Yorker!”
