ALBUM PREMIERE: Performance Art Collective Quixotic Conjure Grooveable Pop Sound With ‘Goddess’

Quixotic is an innovative performance art collective that fuses imagination with technology, dance, projection mapping and live music to create fully-immersive, multi-sensory experiences.

Quixotic was given Silicon Valley’s unofficial stamp of genius when they were invited to perform at the global TED Conference in 2012. A unique blend of performance art, technology and emotion, Quixotic fuses all these elements in to what the New York Times branded an “innovative circus performance,” and Men’s Journal declared “one of the best contemporary [cirque] acts.” They have performed for audiences worldwide and have helped launch brand products for companies such as BVLGARI, Faena Hotels, Garmin, HP, Smithsonian and Toyota. Quixotic harnesses light, rhythm and expressive emotion.

While Quixotic is mostly known for their stunning live performances, they also record music. Today Glide is offering an exclusive early listen of their upcoming EP Goddess, which is out on May 17th. Embracing the powerful feminine, Goddess joyously celebrates divine instinct in this pop-driven EP. The “Goddess” figure being the inner-self, reaching for elevation and serenity, wholeness and presence. The recording is heavily focused on vocals, strings and drums, and inspired by the emotional movement of Quixotic’s aerialists, dancers and performing artists and how these performers continue to inspire awe in audiences across the globe. With pop music at its core, the musicians incorporate elements of electronic dance and world music. Many of the songs feature melodic down-tempo grooves laden with emotional, heavenly vocals and warm strings. Interestingly, the album is also the first release by Quixotic to feature vocals on every song, a departure from the instrumental direction of past releases.

Goddess features vocalist and harpist Calvin Arsenia, Shane Borth on violin, viola and keyboards, Simon Huntley on percussion and drums, and Lily Carassik on trumpet. Engineer Noel Selders was captain of the ship, working closely with Shane Borth, Anthony Magliano and Simon Huntley during the production of this album.
