WATCH: The Bird and the Bee Tackle Van Halen’s “Ain’t Talking ‘Bout Love” With Dave Grohl on ‘James Corden’

On August 2nd The Bird and The Bee – the duo of singer Inara George and multi-instrumentalist Greg Kurstin -will release Interpreting the Masters Volume 2: A Tribute to Van Halen on No Expectations/Release Me Records. The LP is a collection of covers of some of the most massive and wild songs from David Lee Roth-era Van Halen, and is the second volume in a series of homage albums, the first being 2010’s Interpreting the Masters, Volume 1: A Tribute to Daryl Hall and John Oates. With the release of Interpreting the Masters, Vol. 2, The Bird and the Bee hope to spread that near-lifelong Van Halen love to a whole new crop of listeners.  See below for the letter Kurstin and George sent to Van Halen while working on the album, explaining the band’s importance them.

Last night, the band appeared on The Late Late Show with James Corden (below) to perform a rousing version of Van Halen’s classic “Ain’t Talking ‘Bout Love” with special guest Dave Grohl on the drums. Tomorrow night, The Bird and The Bee kick off a 16-date North American tour at Los Angeles’ John Anson Ford Amphitheater. This special one-off performance will feature help from Grohl on drums and Justin Meldal-Johnsen on bass.
