On the same day that Green Day has announced a new album called Father of All, (hear the title track below) the band’s first album of new music since 2016’s Revolution Radio, the Berkeley trio has announced a new 2020 tour with Fall Out Boy and Weezer called The Hella Mega Tour. Weezer has also announced a new album titled Van Weezer, and going by the sound of new single “The End of the Game,” the “Van” is paying nods to Van Halen. Rivers Cuomo calls the album “like the blue album but with more-riffs.” Listen below. Weezer says, “Right now the tentative release date for the album is set for May 15th. We know it’s a ways away, but hey this is rock n roll and we’re making our own rules (aka we just might release it sooner).”
The U.S. portion of the tours kicks off on July 17th at Seattle’s Petco Park and runs through 20 stadiums total, concluding August 29th at Philadelphia’s Citizen Bank Park. Venues of note include a rare non Phish concert at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, CO on 7/28 and shows at the historic Wrigley Field (8/13) and Fenway Park on August 27th.
