The Ones To Watch: Most Anticipated Movies Of 2020

As film lovers enter the last quarter of 2019 they can look back with mixed feelings at what the Silver Screen has delivered during the first nine months of the year. There have been some movies that have provided the thrills and spills that Hollywood is well known for (think Avengers: Endgame, John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) and others that have been disappointing too, like Hellboy.

As film fans wait impatiently for these new film releases, there are many ways that they can fill their time with film-related video games and movie merchandise. For fans of popular film franchises like Jurassic Park and Planet of the Apes, there are also some top movie-themed slot games to play on too. With teaser trailers and news of upcoming film projects released online, there has been a lot of social media buzz around some upcoming films, from Disney live-action remakes to horror film sequels. As next year looks to be shaping up to be a year of ups and downs too, which are the 2020 movies that you should definitely be pre-booking cinema seats for?

A Quiet Place 2
In 2018 A Quiet Place wowed the critics as an original approach to the horror genre with many hailing it as an intelligent take on the old ‘creature feature’ trope. In 2020, we will see the release of Paramount Pictures A Quiet Place 2 – and it is hotly anticipated by both critics and audiences. John Krasinski is back as writer/director and those in search of thrills and shivers are looking forward to the March 2020 release. The sequel even adds big names to the cast with Cillian Murphy, who stars as Tommy Shelby in the popular TV series Peaky Blinders.

No Time To Die
“The name’s Bond, James Bond”. That immortal line is etched into the memory of every fan of the successful Bond franchise. In April 2020, Bond fans will see the return of the suave British master spy in the 25th of the series in No Time to Die. Daniel Craig is back for another stab at making his version of Bond the most iconic in history and the cast is joined by Rami Malek as the new Bond villain. Other names such as Ralph Fiennes, Ben Wishaw, Jeffrey Wright and Léa Seydoux are lending further weight to the production. It’s going to be a rollercoaster ride across exciting filming locations from Jamaica, Italy, London and Norway.

Mulan
Disney is betting that a live-action remake of the 1998 animated blockbuster Mulan is going to have cinemagoers glued to their seats in 2020. It’s billed as being martial arts heavy – and Disney has roped in an ensemble cast of Chinese actors to bring the story to life (including the always entertaining Jet Lee). It is also rumored to remain true to the original legend of Mulan. Only time will tell if Disney has got this one right – but it promises to wow audiences when it hits theaters in March 2020.

Green Lantern Corps
The most recent film starring a DC character was recently Joker, released earlier this month. However, DC fans can expect more of their favorite comic book characters next year too with the upcoming release of Green Lantern Corps set to be released in June 2020. However, that anticipation will be tinged with a fair amount of trepidation as 2011’s Green Lantern film was loathed by fans and casual cinemagoers alike. Warner Bros executives are on the edge of their seats wondering if this is going to allow them to successfully expand the DC Universe and bring in those mega box office returns that are a hallmark of the rival Marvel Universe movies.
