Billie Eilish Chosen To Write, Record, Produce & Perform New ‘007: No Time To Die’ Theme Song

Billie Eilish was revealed to be the chosen one to write, record and perform the theme song of the legendary movie saga of the world’s most important and famous spy. In this occasion, 007: No Time To Die.

The 007 franchise, the longest in history of film with its first production made back in 1962, chose Eilish out of an important list of artists, according to BBC, rumors of Dua Lipa and/or Beyoncé as the chosen artist for this occasion raised this a couple of days.

Eilish started to post Bond pictures on her Instagram sparking the rumors that were later confirmed by the official Twitter account for the movie, @007 tweeted out: “The #NoTimeToDie title song will be performed by @billieeilish. Billie has written the song with her brother @finneas and is the youngest artist in history to write and record a James Bond theme song.

The 18-Year-old singer born in Los Angeles, California will be the follow up to 2 academy award-winning themes, “Skyfall” by Adele back in 2012, from the film of the same name; and Sam Smith’s “Writing’s On The Wall”, made for the film “Spectre” during 2015.

Although Adele’s performance was acclaimed most of the time, and Smith’s reviews were not as good, both of them not only they did well on the charts, but got the Academy Awards of their respective years as the Golden Globes, for original songs, being the only two James Bond films to have win in these categories.

The “No Time To Die” film will hit first the cinemas of the UK on April 2nd, one month before the Kentucky Derby horse race, and then America’s movie theaters on April 10th. Pitchfork has noted about it, and some of Eilish’s statements about it: “It feels crazy to be a part of this in every way. To be able to score the theme song to a film that is part of such a legendary series is a huge honor. James Bond is the coolest film franchise ever to exist. I’m still in shock…”

Finneas, her older brother whom she’s written, recorded and produced her Grammy Awarded debut album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, also had words about it:

“Writing the theme song for a Bond film is something we’ve been dreaming about doing our entire lives. There is no more iconic pairing of music and cinema than the likes of Goldfinger and Live and Let Die. We feel so so lucky to play a small role in such a legendary franchise, long live 007.”

Billie Eilish broke the internet and the music industry last year alongside rapper Lil Nas X, fighting head to head for the number 1 spot in the most important charts, as Spotify Global, and Billboards. Her Single “Bad Guy” debuted on the #7 of Billboard’s Hot 100 on the Weekend of the 13th of April, then went on to stay in the 2nd place for 9 weeks before overthrowing the Record-Breaking Lil Nas X Single “Old Town Road” Featuring Billy Ray Cyrus from No.1.

The song put Eilish on the map and helped the commercial success of her album, reaching the top spot on lists all around the world, including Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Russia, among others, and being certified Sextuple Platinum by Australian Recording Industry Association.

She rose to fame so quickly that, according to BBC, had to be Upgraded during the last Glastonbury Festival, when passing from a tent to the second-biggest Stage. The growth she’s experimented makes her join Paul McCartney, Duran Duran, and Madonna among many others, in the exclusive club of artists invited to write the Theme Song for a Bond Movie.
