FULL ALBUM PREMIERE: The Taylor Young Band Shine Bright On Power Pop Debut LP ‘Mercury Transit’

The Taylor Young Band out of Dallas, TX will celebrate their debut album Mercury Transit on March 6th via Hand Drawn Records – throughout Texas: 2/28, Dallas @ Club Dada; 3/12, Plano @ Legacy Hall; 3/19, Austin @ Darwin’sYoung Band: Although the band itself is new, these musicians have been around the block: Band namesake Taylor Young is a recording/touring drummer (Young Heart Attack, Polyphonic Spree, etc.), who fronted a band called The O’s (singer/guitar) before embarking on this solo project. For his solo record, he teams with Toby Pipes (singer/guitar for Deep Blue Something) on bass and producer, Kenny Wayne (guitar for Leon Bridges) on lead guitar and Josh Hoover (drummer for Calhoun) on drums.

The Taylor Young Band has played a handful of shows since its inception and this past weekend hosted the group’s album release show at Club Dada on Feb. 28, where fans had the opportunity to purchase the album before its March 6 release before they head on down to Austin for a SXSW performance.

Glide is thrilled to premiere the album in its entirety (below) prior to the official release a creative flair of charismatic rock that conjures up 70’s power pop, radio-friendly wails, and inspirational anthems. The four-piece convey a sense of songwriting strength and power that reflects Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Lord Huron and Caamp.

“This is our debut album, Toby and I played most of the instruments on the record, then added some long time friends from the Texas music scene to join us on stage. There’s a lot of power pop, a little country, and some rockin good times going on,” says the band.
