Indie pop vanguards The Mommyheads have continued to reappear at the most opportune times following their groundbreaking experimental indie-pop years of 1989-1998. Experimental sounds would mix with flawless harmonies in their songs which would later inadvertently appear in the realm of Grizzly Bear and Dirty Projectors. Perhaps The Mommyheads were 20 years ahead of their time, but now is the perfect time to enjoy their creative contributions. The band led by the brilliant Adam Elk is set to release its new album New Kings of Pop in September of this year.
Glide is proud to premiere (below) the exceptional new music video for their latest single, “SpeakerHeart.” Featuring front-to-back Rotoscope animation with over 4,000 hand-sketched frames, the video brings the band’s progressive existential storytelling to life. Although both the song and video were conceived in late 2019, the subject matter fits ideally in today’s tumultuous times.
The Mommyheads will donate $1 per view (with a $1,000 maximum amount) of the video premiere to the Rising Ground foundation of NY, a non-profit organization that shelters and nurtures children orphaned by The I.C.E program and Covid 19.
“Because of the current shelter in place order, filming and editing became a family affair,” said The Mommyhead’s Adam Elk. “Making this video kept my family busy and added another layer to our version of homeschooling.”
