Grateful Dead ‘Shakedown Stream’ To Air Europe ’72 Show- 4/21/72 Breman, West Germany

The latest installment of the Grateful Dead’s weekly archival video stream Shakedown Stream harkens all the way back to the Dead’s legendary Europe ‘72 tour with their April 21, 1972 performance from Beat Club in Bremen, West Germany. This show, which originally aired in May of 1972 on Germany’s first major rock’n’roll TV show Beat-Club and was later shown in U.S theatres as part of the group’s Meet-Up At The Movies in 2014, features a rare single-set performance that was unusually heavy on Bob Weir-led songs and also contained several false starts as the band took advantage of performing without an audience. The more than 80-minute set has plenty of musical highlights, including a monstrous “Truckin’”>”Other One” sequence that blows past the thirty-minute mark alone.

As with previous iterations of Shakedown Stream, this episode’s pre-show hosted by noted Dead scholars David Lemieux & Gary Lambert will feature a special guest: former Grateful Dead tour manager Sam Cutler

Watch the latest episode of Shakedown Stream this Friday, May 22nd at 8PM EST at the Grateful Dead’s official YouTube page.
