SONG PREMIERE: Toronto Breakout Artist Tali Delivers Luminescent “”(Don’t) Wanna Be Yours” Off ‘Shadows’ EP

Toronto singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Tali shows a charismatic prowess and relentless creative flair akin to Tove Lo and Lorde that has garnered her a well-earned buzz about. Her debut EP ‘Shadows’ is set for release on September, 11th.

Shadows tells of a particular evolution and growth for Tali and plays to the transition from adolescence into young adulthood. Tali describes this journey as “coming out of the shadows and learning about myself, relationships, getting a sense of the world around me in ways I never knew before.”

Tali describes other interpretations of  Shadows as the “battle/contrast between the mind and the heart (the paradox) and how one always follows closely to the other, walking closely behind like a shadow; love and loss, letting the old fall into the shadows and new love come into your life; losing yourself and falling into the shadows, and coming back to yourself even stronger. ”

Shadows also encapsulate Tali’s love of the nighttime and is a self processed “night owl” where the cover art of the EP displays those nocturnal themes.

Glide is thrilled to premiere (Don’t) Wanna Be Yours” (below) a luminescent song written in Nicaragua, that sprinkles with sugary electricity and a soulful gleam, geared for late summer playlists.

“The song came to me when the guy about whom I wrote this song, lit up his chocolate-flavored cigars even when I’d ask him if he would not smoke around me, and he still did,” says Tali. “This song details other ways he’d get on my nerves in our short-lived romance, such as how differently he’d treat me around his friends. This song was written in Nicaragua.”
