Portland’s indie-rock outfit Typhoon make a surprise return with their new single & video “Welcome to the Endgame”. The band’s frontman Kyle Morton, who penned the track, shared this message alongside the video:
“Strange times are becoming normal. Try to resist that. Vote. Take part in the politics of responsibility. Remember that being good is a choice you make, not a thing you are.”
This is the band’s first new music since the release of their critically-acclaimed fourth LP Offerings in January 2018, which NPR’s Bob Boilen called “truly a wise and rumative record.” Following the release, Typhoon toured extensively across North America, UK, and Europe, playing sold-out shows in NYC, San Francisco, Seattle, London & more.
With a gorgeous and haunting backdrop permeated with and a pulsing bassline and lightly thumping keys, Morton croons gently, “Welcome to the endgame, final movies already been made. We’re finding out the hard way, there’s’ not a savior left insight.”
“Welcome to the Endgame” boats‘ owerful words indeed from a brilliant songwriter. Typhoon displays maturity and restraint as the eight-piece band crafts a subtle symphony of elusive and stunning atmospheric color and tone, calling to mind Nights Beds and James Blake. Check out it out below…
