LISTEN: Matilda Mann Delivers Feist Endearing Songcraft On “Japan”

Matilda Mann is a remarkable 20 year old singer-songwriter from London who like Leslie Feist, possesses a keen gift for delivering smart and concise lyrics that ripple softly across direct and gorgeous musical soundscapes. Boasting a soothing and beautiful voice, she delivers well crafted songs while bridging charisma and approachability in her own unique way. It makes sense that she names Adrianne Lenker (of Big Thief) as an inspiration to her songwriting. Mann leaves enough in her lyrics to interpretation and plenty to grab onto, while making it all seem so easy along the way. Matilda Mann is an endearing voice and fans of the cute, quaint and quirky will relish this new track titled-  “Japan” (below)…

Over lockdown I binge-watched a TV show called Gossip Girl. (It’s basically about very rich teenagers living in NYC) and whenever they were heartbroken, they would always fly off to Paris or do something extravagant and I thought, if I was 17 and heartbroken (and rich), I’d fly to Japan to cry and distract myself till I got over them,” says Mann

Matilda’s forthcoming album, Because I Wanted You To Know‘ is set for release on November 20. This is the follow-up to ‘If That Makes Sense EP’, and includes the previously released singles ‘Happy Anniversary, Stranger’, ‘Robbed’, and ‘As It Is’.
