LISTEN: Alaskan Trio Sundog Melds Past & Present Psych Rock Worlds On “Quick Fix”

SunDog is a psychedelic garage rock trio from Chugiak, Alaska. The band formed in 2015 with the sole purpose of winning their high school band competition, which of course they did. Since their early days, SunDog has been building a loyal fan base with their steady stream of releases and quirky live performances. Their sophomore album Cabin Fever is set to release February 2, 2021 via Dog Yard Records.

Check out the fierce new single “Quick Fix” (below) from SunDog. With melodic precision and a rock-solid rhythm section, lead singer Abi Sparkman muses with an unmistakable emotion as she rips tonally tight guitar solos. SunDog traverses the world of classic psych-rock where shades of the past -Hawkwind and Traffic – meet the worlds of The Black Angels and Osees.

“Really, the song is about realizing you’ve lost sight of what you’re working towards. It’s really easy to hibernate in the Alaska winter, so I found myself feeling really directionless and not sure of what my future held. I wrote about this “quick fix” mentality that I had adopted for the last few years— writing songs that didn’t mean anything to me, playing shows I didn’t care about, working a circuit of season jobs. I kept thinking “I’m waaaaay too young to be feeling this way,” says Sparkman
