Kelly McMichael is known for her commanding vocals and stage presence as well as her classic-sounding songwriting and arranging skills. McMichael is able to fiercely conduct musical forces by layering vocal harmonies, producing beats, riffing on guitars, and serenading at the piano. On her debut full-length album Waves McMichael displays a wide range of rock sounds and marks a transition from her electronic-based project ‘RENDERS’.
With a mesmerizing vocal punch, McMichael delivers some clever indie-rock punch on her single, “I Missed Out On Everything.” Tonally opulent and swift, electric guitars paint the track as McMichael’s doubled vocals bring a profuse and rich sonic push that recalls the melodic tenacity of Waxahatchee and Liz Phair.
“Are you a good gurl/boi who tried to do everything right and now you find yourself with a boring grown-up life? Having some FOMO? Spark up a doobie and express that feeling with some sloppy rock and roll! Then call your friends, go play a game outside, do some flirting and start a band,” candidly says McMichael.
