Sailor June is the solo musical project of singer–songwriter Juniper Jefferies. The Nashville native’s sound mixes elements of shoegaze, grunge, and alternative rock/pop. June thrives in the duality of light and dark, often creating a soundscape of harsh guitar and up-front bass, paired with lush, dream-pop vocals. Her lyrics are brutally honest and personal, creating intimacy and a place of vulnerability within her music.
Dark and perfectly unbridled, “After Image” is the distinct new single from Sailor June. With a hypotonic vocal flair, June swims in a tonally precise bed of thunderous bass drive and cutting guitar lines. Containing a haunting and buzzing shoegaze presentation wight lightning guitars, this is truly My Bloody Valentine meets Siouxsie and the Banshees for the new decade.
“After Image is a story of revenge. It encapsulates a sort of haunting, one in which I come back as a ghost to torment mortal enemies. In a way, it’s a sort of cathartic fantasy and reflection on how I’ve learned to stand up for myself,” says Jefferies.
