Summer is in full swing, tilting into self. As we all get back outside – to our “normal” lives – maybe what we really need is a summer anthem that is skeptical of the season itself. The Hop and Lossapardo bring us exactly that on their aptly titled Frank Ocean-ish jam, “SUMMER.” With that perfect summertime guitar jangle, lazy drum groove, and tactical synth touchings; “SUMMER” is a down-tempo jam for the nihilist in us all.
“The song was made last summer in Paris during a heatwave, it made sense to write about the topic, it made me question my love for the summer. It’s about growing up, and noticing some things we used to like are perhaps different with a more mature look. The music video I’ve painted and animated adds to the narrative on how the heat tends to slow down everything around us.”
