In very sad news today, ZZ Top founding member and bassist Dusty Hil died today at age 72 from unspecified causes. The longstanding Texas power trio has had the same three members since their formation in 1969 and helped invent a sound of dirty southern boogie that ran the gamut from R-rated anthems to downright nasty blues-rock that helped them become MTV sensations in the 80s’ and longstanding live favorites.

We are saddened by the news today that our Compadre, Dusty Hill, has passed away in his sleep at home in Houston, TX. We, along with legions of ZZ Top fans around the world, will miss your steadfast presence, your good nature and enduring commitment to providing that monumental bottom to the ‘Top’. We will forever be connected to that “Blues Shuffle in C.”
You will be missed greatly, amigo.
